HSE Specialist - Projects | 5:2 Roster FIFO | Various sites

Company Description

Sodexo looks after the upkeep, maintenance, and refurbishment of non-process infrastructure for mining and oil & gas clients across Western Australia, helping keep the resources sector running through catering, hospitality, and facilities services.

We're looking for an experienced HSE Specialist to join our Projects team on a permanent, full-time, Monday-to-Friday basis. The role is based at our Balcatta office, with regular travel out to our Pilbara sites.

The Projects team handles both capital works and smaller-scale projects delivered through subcontractors. In this role, you'll work closely with contractors, Project Supervisors, and Project Managers to keep work running safely, and you'll be a driving force behind the on-site safety culture.

We're after someone with a background in facilities management and/or construction. FIFO or remote-site experience is a bonus but not a must.

Job Description

• Act as a point of contact for clients and community groups and addressing concerns and complaints for HSEQC issues.
• Form strong working relationships with community groups in the vicinity of remote sites.
• Establish a strong link with senior management, operations, clients support departments and service partners to ensure effective management of HSE.
• Manage company and client driven HSE activities, programs, drills, meetings.
• Prepare HSEQ KPI reports for communication to Sodexo management.
• Facilitate risk assessments and ensure site specific risk registers are updated and communicated.
• Participate in critical control program assurance activities.
• Report any incidents, near hits, procedure deficiencies and poor working conditions to the immediate manager and HSEQ personnel.
• Ensure all incidents (including near hits) are investigated to a level of detail appropriate to the maximum foreseeable exposure (MFE) of the incident and report made available to the HSE manager.
• Ensure that lessons learnt and actions resulting from incidents are appropriately managed and implemented across all applicable sites.
• Ensure monthly HSE inspections are completed with relevant actions captured for any non-conformances identified.
• Review and update company HSE manuals, policies, procedures, and management plans (traffic management, emergency management etc.) as required.
• Conduct Gap Analysis of employee training pathways that are consistent with the business, ensuring that training is available and delivered.
• Review JHAs and update SOP as required.
• Be confident and comfortable mentoring and coaching Sodexo supervisors and leads, as well as contractor personnel and leaders

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (at minimum).
• Certified in Internal Auditing (desirable but not essential)
• Root Cause Incident Investigation (TapRoot/Essential Factors) Training (desirable but not essential)
• Current West Australian C Class driver’s license.
• Must have a Construction White card
